Who we are

This website, senaptlib.com, is run by Senapt Liberia, which deploys smart electricity meters across Liberia in partnership with the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC). Our office is at Rehab, opposite Stop & Shop Supermarket, Paynesville City, Monrovia, Liberia. For any question about your personal information, email hello@senaptlib.com.

This policy explains what information the website collects, why, who else handles it, how long we keep it, and how you can ask to see, correct or delete it. It covers this website only. The website does not handle electricity accounts, meter readings or token purchases.

What we collect

You can read the website without creating an account or telling us who you are. We collect personal information in these cases:

• Chats with EVE: When you ask EVE, the website's assistant, a question, we store your messages and EVE's replies. They are linked to a random identifier kept in your browser, not to your name, so the conversation can be restored when you come back. Please do not type passwords, payment details or other sensitive information into the chat.
• Requests to speak to a person: If EVE cannot help and you ask to be put in touch with our team, a short form asks for your name, email address, phone number (optional) and your message. We store these together with the conversation so far.
• Calls and emails: The buttons to get a smart meter or contact us open your phone or your own email application. If you call or email us, we receive what you choose to send, such as your number, email address and message.
• Staff ID cards: Each Senapt staff ID card carries a QR code that opens a page on this website showing the holder's name, job title, photograph, work contact details and whether the card is valid, so anyone can check that a staff member is genuine. These pages are not listed on the website and are hidden from search engines.
• Staff accounts: Staff who manage the website sign in with an account set up by an administrator. We store their email address, name, role and password, which is never stored in readable form, and which account published each news story, event or photo.
• Technical information: Like most websites, the services that deliver the pages receive technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request, which they need to send you the pages and to protect the website from misuse.

How we use it

We use this information to:

• answer your questions through EVE, and reply to you when you ask to speak to our team;
• read EVE conversations to check that its answers are correct and improve them;
• let anyone check a staff ID card, and let staff manage the website's content;
• keep the website working and secure, and understand how it is used so we can improve it.

We do not sell personal information and do not use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the companies that run parts of the website for us, and only as far as they need it to provide their service:

• Lovable: Hosts the website. Its pages are delivered through the Cloudflare network.
• Supabase: Provides the database where chats, requests to speak to a person and staff accounts are stored, the storage for the website's images, and staff sign-in.
• AIRouter: An AI service that sends each chat message, together with the earlier messages of that conversation, to the AI model that writes EVE's reply. That model may be run by another AI company.
• Resend: Delivers the email that passes your request to speak to a person on to our team.
• Google: Provides Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.

Some of these companies process data outside Liberia, including in the United States. We may also disclose information when the law requires it.

Cookies and analytics

The website stores a few small pieces of information in your browser. Some are cookies; others are kept in your browser's local storage, which works in a similar way.

• lang: A cookie that remembers the website's language. It is set on your first visit from your browser's language, changes when you pick another language, and lasts 12 months.
• analytics-consent: Kept in local storage to remember whether you accepted or declined analytics cookies, until you clear your browser data.
• senapt-assistant-visitor, senapt-assistant-conversation, senapt-assistant-handover: Kept in local storage so EVE can restore your conversation: a random identifier for your browser, the conversation you last had, and whether you were offered a person to talk to. They stay until you clear your browser data; starting a new chat removes the link to the earlier conversation.
• session-id: A cookie used by the visit statistics our hosting provider collects. With it, the provider records the address of each page you view, the page that sent you here, your browser type and language, and a country estimated from your device's time zone. The cookie holds a random identifier and lasts 30 minutes.
• __cf_bm: A cookie set by Cloudflare to tell visitors apart from automated traffic. It lasts 30 minutes.
• Staff sign-in: Staff who sign in have their session kept in local storage until they sign out.

Only if you accept analytics cookies, the website also uses Google Analytics, which sets cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an identifier, kept for up to two years, to tell one visit from another. Google Analytics records the pages you view, how long you spend on them, how you reached the website, your approximate city and country, and your type of device and browser, so we can see how the website is used and improve it. It does not store your full IP address, Google's advertising features are switched off, and Google keeps the data for 14 months. Google processes this data, including in the United States. You can change your choice at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page; declining removes the analytics cookies.

The Cookie settings choice applies to Google Analytics. The other items above are set whatever you choose, and you can remove them at any time in your browser's settings.

How long we keep it

• EVE conversations and requests to speak to a person: Kept in our database while we need them to deal with your request and improve EVE's answers. They are not deleted automatically, so you can ask us to delete yours at any time.
• Emails: Messages you send us by email, and the email copies of requests to speak to a person, stay in our team's mailboxes while we need them.
• Staff accounts and ID card pages: Kept until an administrator removes them.
• Google Analytics data: Kept by Google for 14 months.

Your choices and rights

You do not have to give us any personal information to use the website. Chatting with EVE and asking to speak to a person are optional, and you can decline analytics cookies.

You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@senaptlib.com. Because chats are not linked to names, it helps if you tell us roughly when you used EVE and what you asked, or the email address you gave in the form.

You can delete the cookies and local storage the website uses at any time in your browser's settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the website or the way we handle information changes. The date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
